Biography


   Susan & Michael Butz have been making silver & gold jewellery since 1975, after having studied at Sheridan College School of Design.

   They opened their own jewellery studio and craft store ,"The Artisan Shoppe", in New Hamburg in 1976 and served a loyal clientele until 1980. At that time, they pursued their dream of raising their family on Blue Hawk Lake, in Haliburton County. They founded "Windy Ridge Studio" in 1980 and have been creating unique jewellery there, since then. Their love of wood developed while living in the Highlands, and they started making boats in 1989.


   Michael and Susan have been members of "The Haliburton County Studio Tour" for twenty-two years, have participated in countless craft shows, exhibited their work in galleries, supplied many stores and created many commissions, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces.

   In 2005, Susan graduated from the Fleming College "Jewellery Essentials Certificate Program", and is now teaching in that same program. She graduated from Fleming College in 2009 with a Visual & Creative Arts Diploma.
